Uchit Jaivik (roughly translated as ‘Good Bio’) is a family company producing bio-organic fertiliser that assists in eco-friendly agricultural farming. The company was founded over 30 years ago by Mr. Krishna Mahajran. Krishna studied in Germany to learn how to produce organic fertiliser.
When back in Nepal, the first challenge was to find local ingredients with the same qualities as the ones Krishna had learned to work with in Europe. Even more difficult was to find customers, since at that time nobody was interested in bio-organic farming. After having tried his best to persuade customers to try his products for a long time, Krishna eventually gave up and quit the company for about 15 years.
Around 3 years ago, with the organic food hype finally also having arrived in Nepal and even the Nepalese government starting to stimulate organic farming, Krishna decided to give it another shot and rebooted his company. With his wife and five daughters he now – mostly manually – produces organic fertiliser, plant nutrients and food supplements for animals and currently services over 70 farmers. Mainly due to word of mouth advertising he has a steady increasing customer base and has almost certain acquired some government funding in order to expand his factory and acquire more machinery in the near future.
The company was also selected by Onetowatch to participate in the Nepalese Rockstart Impact startup accelerator program, which helps the Company to further develop and potentially secure investment from local or foreign investors.
