Waste Concern

Waste Concern Pvt Ltd is a private waste collection and disposal company run by Sulav Moktan and his wife Rajani. The Company focuses on the 4000 households in the 35th district of Kathmandu. The waste is collected making use of Rickshaws and Tractors to be able to manoeuvre through the narrow streets where the customers live. The waste is subsequently transferred to large trucks which transfer it to one of the Company’s segregation sites. There the PET bottles, plastics and other valuable items are separated by employees of the Company, and the remaining waste is transferred to Kathmandu’s landfill site around 70km from the city.

Waste Concern aims to change the customer’s mind set in such a way that they will segregate organic and recyclable materials from the other waste at the source, providing for much better use of the segregated organic waste and hence improving the environment and assuring there will be less need for the polluting land-fill sites.

The company was selected by Onetowatch to participate in the Nepalese Rockstart Impact startup accelerator program, which helps the Company to further develop and potentially secure investment from local or foreign investors.
